What is unique about having a dream wedding in Sri Lanka is that there are a number of traditional wedding themes to choose from. From a civil ceremony to a Christian one, a Buddhist ceremony to a Hindu or Muslim ceremony, the choices and traditions are varied and wide.
The happy couple could either choose a Sinhala wedding, which highlights the poruwa ceremony – a decorated wooden platform where the couple can take their vows, exchange rings and carry out all the rituals and blessings while the couple in their traditional bridal attire stand on the poruwa. One of the more extravagant ceremonies involves the couple being escorted in by Kandyan dancers.
Be it a quiet ceremony by the beach, magical waterfalls, or scenic mountains as their backdrop, the opportunities Sri Lanka provides for weddings are endless.
